Gameplay
Counter-Strike Global Offensive is the latest installment in the cult Counter-Strike series, and offers the same gameplay that has defined the genre. It was developed using Valve's Source 2 Engine and features high-resolution textures and real-time lighting. It has been updated with a number of new weapons and other gameplay elements.
The game has 34 weapons, of which 19 are exclusive to the new version. Many of them are replacements for weapons from earlier versions while others have been revamped to have unique functions and characteristics.
Some of the most significant changes are centered on the weapons themselves. The SCAR-L was replaced by the new weapon, which has a greater range and power as well as the AK-128 received an updated barrel that improves accuracy. Many other guns are being tweaked too including the M4A1 and sniper rifles.
A number of the maps have been updated to work with CS:GO 2. Overpass has been overhauled to make use of the brand new Source 2 engine, while other maps such as Dust II have been carefully updated. The game will also come with numerous new features, in addition to the new map. For example the game's interface has been upgraded and a brand new Item Workshop will allow players to create their own items.
The Faction system is a further significant change. Counter-Strike 2 offers a wide variety of T and CT models, whereas the previous edition offered two factions. The server architecture of the game has been modified to use sub-ticks to update. This means that servers can analyze the world at very small intervals such as when players move or fire guns.
Since its launch in 2012. CS:GO is one of the most played games on Steam. It has an estimated 11 million players each month. It also has a robust community of esports that includes teams participating in numerous tournaments and leagues. The Valve-sponsored Major Championships are the most notable, where top teams compete for large sums of money.

Counter-Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO) is a game all about armed combat with a variety of weapons to pick from players have a wide range of choices when it comes to choosing their primary weapon. The equipment players use, such as armor, a defuse kit for CTs and grenades for terrorists are also playing a significant part in the overall strategy of the game.
Each weapon has its strengths and weaknesses. For example, the AWP is an excellent rifle for sniping that kills enemies with armor above the legs with ease, but it also has a slow rate of fire and is quite costly. The SCAR-20 is, in contrast, a rifle with high accuracy with a scope, however it also takes ages to reload and could dramatically slow down a player's speed of movement.
New weapons in CSGO also have some changes to their appearance. The HE weapon, for instance has been designed to explode more realistically and the smoke from molotov or incendiary grenades cocktail appears more realistic. This makes it easier to track down players.
The weapons available in CS:GO can be purchased from the buy zone located at each team's designated spawn point. Besides pistols and knives players can buy any other weapon available in the game by using in-game currency. Players can spend money to upgrade weapons. A new purchase menu has been added in the game, which offers players a more convenient shopping experience.
A few months after the game's launch, Valve released a few updates to improve the gameplay of the game. Some of the most significant changes are to the in-game chat system which has been updated to block the use of offensive words and spam. The UI for buying items has also been revamped, and now uses a grid-based layout.
The game has also been enhanced with a new cheating system that has spectating as well as bans. The team that loses a round will be penalized, but those who commit an offense will be suspended for an extended period of time. In addition to these changes, Valve has added a couple of gameplay tweaks to make the game more enjoyable.
Maps
The Counter-Strike franchise is known for its maps and the level of skill required to master the game. Each map takes years, sometimes decades of work to create the top of first-person shooter design that is competitive. The maps in the reserve and active pools are the most important aspect of the game to learn because they will aid you in understanding the game's mechanics better and provide more tools to enjoy playing it.
Mirage is a popular CSGO map in the Active pool that was first introduced in 2013 by Valve. The map is well-known for its high skill ceilings as well as an excellent balance for both sides of combat. The map is used for esports, and is a major championships for CSGO.
Nuke is the oldest defusal map in CSGO and is a standard of both casual and professional game play. The map has undergone some modifications over the years, but it still remains one of the most complex tactical maps available in the game. The map's unique layout demands that you think about every angle and offers more ways to beat your opponent than any other map.
Overpass is a more recent CSGO map that was released in the Winter Offensive Update in 2013. Its popularity has risen since its arrival and it has made appearances in major championships and esports events. It is a small map with a lot of choices, from the sprawling outside of A site to the tight corners in B site.
Vertigo was added to the CSGO Active pool in 2019 and has been a huge hit with everyone who has played it. It replaces one of the most adored maps in CSGO and is well-received by the community. The map is a bit CT-oriented however this doesn't stop it from being a solid option in queues. Another great feature of this map is the canals that flow through it. They are a nice touch to the map and make it stand out from many other CSGO maps that are heavy on long, sloping edges.
Updates
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been in existence for 10 years, but it was in dire need of an update. Valve confirmed today that the Source 2 beta test for CS:GO has begun. Fans have been waiting for a long time for this limited test. The studio promised a "largest technological leap forward for the game" with a complete overhaul of every aspect of the game.
The most noticeable change to the game is the switch to Source 2, a graphics engine that provides a more life-like visual experience. New lighting particles, particle systems, and a focus on making bullets accessible from distance are all parts of this. The switch to the new engine has also meant a redesign of several maps which include a revamped version of Italy and Overpass.
But, most importantly, Valve's upgrade is intended to improve the way the server architecture and tick rate handle the game's actions. The switch to 128-tick server architecture should improve both the responsiveness and graphical quality of the game. Valve promises that the change will be an "remarkable improvement" and will allow CS:GO to feel more responsive than before.
Apart from the visual changes, players can also expect various gameplay improvements. For example smoke grenades now appear as 3D volumetric objects in the game world, and can be pushed around to temporarily alter the viewlines. Valve claims that the update to the server architecture of the game will allow for sub tick updates. This should result in a smoother and more precise experience.

The limited test will be only available to select players, based upon factors such as play time and Steam account status. Valve states that the cosmetics they collect in the current CSGO will be carried over to the updated version that is scheduled to launch in the summer of. Esports Insider has reached out to BLAST the largest CS:GO tournament organizer, to see whether they plan to offer an older version of the game to its leagues until the new update is released.
